This role includes a £3,000 Recruitment Premium on commencement of your employment and a further £1,500 Retention Premium (pro rata) on completion of one year’s service and every year thereafter.

We are seeking to recruit Registered Nurses, Band 5 (RMN, RGN or RNLD) to provide strong shift leadership and nurses who are motivated to make a real difference in dementia care. Compassion and initiative are essential personal qualities for these roles, along with excellent team-working, communication and assessment skills.

Herm and St Brelades Wards, Alderney Hospital, Poole are assessment and treatment wards; providing high quality, person centered care to persons with a Dementia and Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).

Our Older Peoples Inpatient Services are rated “Good” with the Care Quality Commission and ‘Outstanding’ for Caring Whilst Dorset Healthcare overall is rated ‘Outstanding’ (31st July 2019).

Herm and St Brelades Wards have consistently positive reviews on NHS Choices (NHS Choices, Alderney Hospital) and we pride ourselves on the care we offer to our patients and their families. Our In-Patient Ward services operate as Practice Development Units and are also supported by the Kings Fund and Health Education Wessex initiatives and the services have strong links with Bournemouth University.

These posts are suitable for both newly qualified and experienced nurses. Both full and part time positions are available.

Shift duties include day and night rotation and times are detailed below:

Early - 7:00am – 15:00pm, Late – 13:00pm – 21:00pm, Night – 20:30pm - 7:30am

Employment in this post requires a Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.

You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
