You will undertake an apprenticeship in Catering and at the end of your placement will achieve the following qualifications:
• Apprenticeship in Commis Chef Level 2
• Functional Skills in Mathematics Level 1
• Functional Skills in English Level 1
• Level 2 Technical Certificate
• Employer Rights and Responsibilities
The NVQ qualification is work-related and will relate specifically to your job role.
Our catering team is responsible for the planning, preparation and cooking for both patients and staff within the hospital. This role has been designed to allow you to develop and experience a broad and varied range of activities, these will include:
• Food preparation and cooking of meats, fish and vegetable
• Sauces and Soups
• Health & Safety
• Food Hygiene
You will be a valued member of our busy and friendly catering team and assist in the effective and smooth running of our Catering Service, maintaining excellent working relationships through effective communication.
Apprenticeships are a fantastic pathway to start a career as well as obtain a nationally recognised qualification.
You are eligible to apply for this post if you are living in England and are not taking part in full-time education, you are aged 16 or over and you do not already hold a Level 4 or higher qualification within this subject area.

A dedicated mentor to support you through your apprenticeship, providing support and advice within the workplace, as well as helping you manage the balance of work and apprenticeship studies. You will have the opportunity to develop personally and professionally and will be encouraged to attend our in-house training courses and shadow colleagues from other services. There may be further opportunities depending on your interests and strengths.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
