This is an exciting opportunity for accredited counsellors to join the Poole, Steps to Wellbeing IAPT Service in Dorset. We are recruiting for both permanent and fixed term contract of up to 1 year.

We are looking for enthusiastic counsellors, with a strong clinical background in brief counselling treatments, ideally in a primary care /IAPT setting.

The permanent post holder, if not already trained in a NICE approved treatment for depression, will be required to commit to undertake training in either one of the following; NICE approved modalities: PCE-CFD, IPT, CCfD, or DIT subject to service requirement and funding.

The post holders will provide short term time limited counselling treatments for mild to moderate depression at a Step 3 level of an IAPT service. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly including a minimum of one evening per week from 12:00pm to 20:00pm.  

We are looking for applicants who have enthusiasm for working in a primary care setting, can work both independently, flexibly and as part of a team. Candidates should be competent in providing evidence based 1:1 treatments as well as being interested in developing groups and other psychological courses.

Post-holders who are qualified in other IAPT modality treatments such as EMDR, DIT, IPT or PCE-CFD or CCfD will be at an advantage for an interview.

Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £23 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
