People who provide unpaid care for friends and relatives are a hugely important part of the health system, and the NHS wants to make sure they’re valued and recognised for their contribution.
With three in five people set to become a carer at some point in their lives and over 80,000 unpaid carers in Dorset, we want to raise their profile and promote their vital role.
Working in a supportive team, the role of the Carers Engagement Facilitator will put you at the forefront of supporting all the GP Practices across Dorset (including Bournemouth and Poole), to ensure the needs of carers are taken into account, and upholding the ‘Valuing Carers in Dorset’ vision.
Are you the right person to help us with this inspiring work? You’ll be a tenacious great communicator at all levels, happy to be out and about working collaboratively with GP practices on, for example, the early identification and support for carers, current legislation and policy developments, either directly or via Carers Leads. You’ll have extensive knowledge of the NHS public involvement agenda, along with a sound knowledge of and commitment to the co-production model of public/patient/carer engagement.
You’ll be organised and able to juggle a busy and varied workload, working independently as well as linking in with different teams.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to promote and support this inspirational group of people we’d like to hear from you.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
