Would you like to be part of a specialist team which offers state-of-the-art brain injury rehabilitation? The Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (ABIRS) is part of Dorset HealthCare, a dynamic forward-thinking Trust operating throughout Dorset which recently achieved an Outstanding CQC status.
ABIRS Dorset offers specialist rehabilitation for patients with complex difficulties following an acquired brain injury. This post is for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team at the well established Specialist Level 2a Rehabilitation Unit, located on the sub regional neurology ward at Poole Hospital. This unit focuses on providing expert and intense rehabilitation for patients with an acquired brain injury and is led by a Consultant in Rehabilitation & Brain Injury.
ABIRS Dorset is a multidisciplinary team which consists of health care professionals from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, clinical/neuropsychology, speech therapy, and with support from a Carers Support Officer and Rehabilitation Assistants. The team applies a fully integrated multi-disciplinary approach in order to offer tailored rehabilitation programmes so that people with severe brain injury can achieve their best outcomes possible.
The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist within the inpatient brain injury team plays a central role in the comprehensive rehabilitation by providing evidence-based assessments and interventions for individuals and small groups of patients. The post holder will work closely with the multi disciplinary team to implement innovative, comprehensive and interdisciplinary rehabilitation programmes. This involves patient centred goal setting activities, key-working for patients and their carers, preparation of specialist occupational therapy reports, working closely with community ABIRS colleagues and other specialist teams to plan discharge of patients, and contribute to the development of this dynamic service. The post holder will provide leadership, supervision and training to their band 6 and band 4 OT colleagues.
Continuing professional development and specialist training are key objectives at Dorset HealthCare. ABIRS offers regular in-service education opportunities to enable team members to stay abreast of new developments in brain injury and rehabilitation science. This post is an opportunity for you to expand your existing knowledge, skill and experience, and to actively contribute to the development of the service.
So, if you have experience in working with people with acquired brain injury or other neurological conditions, or have worked in the field of rehabilitation, and you are ambitious to develop your career, then we would like to hear from you.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.
