Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for the provision of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services across the county. Our teams offer a range of individual, family, group and pharmacological interventions depending on the needs of the child, young person and family/carer. Due to service development we are looking for an innovative Psychiatric Liaison Worker.

This post presents an exciting opportunity to assess and work alongside clients who may present in an acute general hospital setting with a mental health problem, self-harm or in a psychiatric crisis, support the families/carers and make recommendations relating to programmes of care.

You will be based in West Dorset with a focus on Dorchester County Hospital, but as part of a pan Dorset team with the expectation of supporting colleagues in the East of the county.

This is an exciting time in liaison psychiatry with national service development and building relationships with colleagues in the adult service.

The post holder will also be expected to be able to make independent judgements and decisions without immediate access to supervision, have excellent communication skills and contribute to the development of clinical care pathways across the service.

A professional qualification is essential as is experience of working with mental health difficulties, previous experience of working with children and young people would also be essential.

Employment in this post requires a Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £44 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.
