Are you an aspiring Mental Health Nurse?

The NHS in Dorset in partnership with Bournemouth University is offering an opportunity to become a Registered Nurse through the launch of our new Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship, this four-year apprenticeship leads to a BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing.

This is a unique opportunity and we are looking for individuals who have a passion and a desire to start a career in health and care within Dorset and can demonstrate compassion, commitment and respect in line with NHS values and behaviours.

Nurse apprentices will be employed by Dorset HealthCare as their main place of work on a full time basis (37.5hrs per week) gaining hands on experience. In addition, nurse apprentices will have block placements over the four-year degree programme which will be in a variety of health and care settings.  The main work place and placements will be across Dorset, meaning apprentices will need to travel to these places of work and the length and days of shifts could vary.  Successful applicants applying to this apprenticeship programme can request a particular area to be based in however there is no guarantee where apprentices will be based for their main place of work or on placements.

Nurse apprentices will be released one day per week in order to attend university study which will be delivered by Bournemouth University.

To apply for a Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship, applicants will need to be aged 18 or over at the start of the programme and there is no upper age limit for applying.

It is essential that all applicants have:

  • GCSE in English and Maths at level C/4 or above (or equivalent)
  • 3 A Level’s at Grade C or above or equivalent, or level 3 study recognised to be sufficient for entry (this may include a full level 3 Apprenticeship of Access to Higher Education)
  • The right to work in the UK

Applicants waiting on result are advised to indicate predicted final grades and/ or current working at grade on the application form. Offers will be conditional on A-level/Level 3 results.
