Are you an aspiring Adult Nurse?

The NHS in Dorset in partnership with Solent University (Southampton) and Bournemouth University are offering an opportunity to become a Registered Nurse through the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship, this four-year apprenticeship leads to a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing.

This is a unique opportunity and we are looking for individuals who have a passion and a desire to start or develop a career in healthcare within Dorset and can demonstrate compassion, commitment and respect in line with NHS values and behaviours.

Nurse apprentices will be employed by one of the Our Dorset NHS Trusts or health / care providers as their main place of work on a full time basis (37.5hrs per week) gaining hands on experience. In addition, nurse apprentices will have block placements over the four-year degree programme which will be in a variety of health and care settings.  The main work place and placements will be across Dorset, meaning apprentices will need to travel to these places of work and the length and days of shifts could vary.  Successful applicants applying to this apprenticeship programme can request a preference of area to be based in and a preferred university, please state you’re preference within the supporting information section on your application form. However there is no guarantee where apprentices will be based for their main place of work, on placements or university.

Nurse apprentices will be released one day per week in order to attend university study which will be delivered by Solent or Bournemouth University.

To apply for a Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship, applicants will need to be aged 18 or over at the start of the programme and there is no upper age limit for applying.

It is essential that all applicants have:

  • GCSE in English and Maths at level C/4 or above (or equivalent)
  • 3 A Level’s at Grade C or above or equivalent, or level 3 study recognised to be sufficient for entry (this may include a full level 3 Apprenticeship of Access to Higher Education)
  • The right to work in the UK

(Please note evidence of qualifications will need to be provided if invited to interview).

Applicants waiting on result are advised to indicate predicted final grades and/ or current working at grade on the application form. Offers will be conditional on A-level/Level 3 results.
