Want to be part of the new NHS? Health and Care organisations in Dorset are at the forefront of transforming services to provide excellent, patient-centred care.
Dorset HealthCare recently achieved an Outstanding CQC status and is a dynamic forward-thinking Trust operating throughout Dorset.
Dorset HealthCare plays a pivotal role in the strong partnership of public sector organisations across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole. Our community and mental health trust has a caring and committed workforce of around 5,500 staff, serving a population of over 700,000 people.
We are looking for proactive, positive, respectful, supportive, reliable and trustworthy people to join us at Dorset HealthCare – we’re the biggest provider of healthcare in Dorset and offer exciting opportunities for people with a range of skills. We want to be better every day – do you?
‘This is an exciting time for us as we continue improving and adapting. I have seen some great innovation, fantastic teamwork and a real willingness to look at how we can do things differently’ – Eugine Yafele, Chief Executive (May 2019)
If you’re looking for work that suits your lifestyle and needs, becoming a Dorset HealthCare Bank worker could be right up your street.
The Trust Bank Team is a friendly, dedicated group of staff based at Sentinel House, Poole. It aims to ensure that wards, departments and community teams across the Trust are always properly staffed, by providing a pool of ‘Bank’ workers to call on who want extra shifts or temporary work.
Who are Bank workers?
Bank workers can work flexibly to fill a temporary vacancy or short-term staffing shortages. They may be required to work at any time, with just a few days, or hours, notice.
Bank working could be your main way of working or a secondary role - we have hundreds of Bank workers who have substantive posts within Dorset HealthCare services too. You don’t have to stick to the same kind of work as your current role or previous jobs either; it’s a chance to learn new skills and broaden your career options.
Benefits of Joining the Bank
The Bank system offers the flexibility to work just now and then or for longer, full-time bookings – whatever’s right for you. It offers a wide range of roles in a variety of locations throughout Dorset as well as our prison services in Devon.
You can choose the location and shift patterns that are right for you and you won’t be tied into contracted hours, so you can work to suit your family and other commitments.
As well as competitive pay rates you’ll be eligible for many of the benefits of permanent staff including:
- Opportunities to gain experience within a variety of specialist teams
- Access to the NHS pension scheme
- An NHS badge entitling you to many NHS benefits
- Unsocial hours enhancements (where applicable)
- Paid annual leave as a percentage of work completed
- Your choice of either monthly or weekly pay
- Holiday pay
- Induction and mandatory training
The Bank provides comprehensive support from recruitment to booking your first shift; you will also be given a comprehensive induction and mandatory training relevant to the role.
Dorset HealthCare also uses electronic rostering, which gives you even more freedom to work when it suits you. As long as you have an internet connection you can access the system on a PC, smart phone or tablet.
So if you are a Registered Nurse (District Nurse) there has never been a better time to join our team.
