A fantastic opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and dynamic Mental Health Practitioners to join the Liaison Psychiatry Service; with posts available at Royal Bournemouth and Poole General Hospitals.

Full and part time hours considered.

This is an exciting time for Liaison Psychiatry Services as there is significant expansion and developments to provide an all age service, to meet the national Core 24 model. We are looking for registered Mental Health Professionals to join our established teams as we move forward with these innovative changes. You will join a highly skilled and supportive MDT including Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses and trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioners, CAMHS practitioners and support workers.

This post presents a unique opportunity to assess and work alongside clients who may present in an acute general hospital setting with a mental health problem, self-harm or in a psychiatric crisis, support the families/carers and make recommendations relating to programmes of care. The role includes assessing patients referred from a variety of sources, including the Emergency Department and wards within the hospital.  Patients seen may present with mental health problems, self-harm or a psychiatric crisis.  You will also work with patients presenting with psychosomatic disorders as well as a variety of psychological issues relating to physical disorder, as well as making recommendations relating to the admission and discharge of patients based on analysis of presenting problems under supervision and with support of the MDT.

We are a 24 / 7 service; with shift patterns including cover of evenings, weekends, nights and public holidays. Flexible working requests will always be considered. In return we will offer educational and professional development as well as regular supervision.

We are proud to say that you will be joining Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust who has recently been awarded “Outstanding” by the Clinical Quality Commission.

We also offer;

  • You will receive a comprehensive and structured induction programme and training
  • Monthly pay plus enhancements for night, weekend and bank holiday working
  • NHS Pension scheme
  • Health & Wellbeing service
  • Holiday pay of up to 33 days, plus bank holidays pro rata, dependent on service
  • NHS discounts
  • Salary sacrifice scheme including work related learning, childcare vouchers, cars, cycles, home technology equipment and buying and selling of annual leave
  • Not forgetting our unique selling point – our Trust beach huts located along the famous Sandbanks coastline.

If you are interested in moving to Dorset we also offer a generous relocation package of up to £5,000. For further details on relocation expenses please email
