Are you passionate about working with children, young people and their families? Are you thinking about moving to sunny Dorset, with its golden beaches and beautiful scenery?

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust are able to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Youth Offending Service Nurse to join the Pan Dorset Youth Offending Service health team whose aim is to work with children and young people who have offended to prevent further offending.  This is offered on a full-time, fixed term contract until March 31st 2019.

As a key health member of the team your role will include assessing health needs, offering therapeutic interventions, identifying risk and collaborating on developing plans on how to manage future risk. The team works with the young people and their parents or carers along with partner agencies and organisations in the local community.

The team are seeking someone who, in addition to possessing excellent clinical skills, has excellent communication skills, and is able to develop productive working relationships with outside agencies, to ensure the needs of the young people are supported.

You should have experience of working within the community and possess a practical understanding of the need to be flexible in the way services are delivered to this group of young people who may be seen as those who are ‘difficult to engage’. Your experience will be invaluable to the support we aim to provide to this vulnerable and challenging group of young people.   Clinical supervision will be provided by a health professional and operational supervision from the youth offending service line managers.

The team is based in Bournemouth although there is also a base in Dorchester

In return, we can also offer you; • Dedicated career pathways and great opportunities for continuing professional development • You will receive a comprehensive and structured induction program and training. • NHS pension scheme • NHS discount and salary sacrifice scheme • Not forgetting our unique selling point – our Trust beach huts located along the famous Sandbanks coastline.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.  The DBS levies a charge of £44 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.  This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.
