An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic Mental Health Practitioner to join the Liaison Psychiatry Team at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Dorset.
This position is a full time (37.5 hrs per week) fixed term / secondment post for 12 months.
This post presents an exciting opportunity to assess and work alongside clients who may present in an acute general hospital setting with a mental health problem, self harm or in a psychiatric crisis, support the families/carers and make recommendations relating to programmes of care.
We are looking for a suitably qualified practitioner with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure. You will be based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital but will be part of a Pan Dorset Service covering Dorchester and Poole Hospitals and at times cross covering may be necessary. The Liaison Psychiatry Service is available 24 hours a day and a shift system is in place including evenings, weekends, nights and public holidays.

The successful applicant will be assessing patients referred from a variety of sources, including the Emergency Department and wards within the hospital. Patients seen may present with mental health problems, self-harm or a psychiatric crisis. You will also work with patients presenting with psychosomatic disorders as well as a variety of psychological issues relating to physical disorder, as well as making recommendations relating to the admission and discharge of patients based on analysis of presenting problems under supervision

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £44 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments. This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
