This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Band 4 Clinical Assistant with the Pan Dorset Learning Disabilities Intensive Support Team. The successful candidate will be based at Hillcrest, Slades Farm Road, Bournemouth.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable previous experience of working with people with a learning disability and/or mental health and have attained NVQ3 or equivalent.
This post is offered on a part-time basis working 27 hours per week; this will require flexible working and will include weekends and Bank Holidays.
The post will involve both lone and team working in multiple environments; carrying out detailed observations, completing assessments as directed by the clinical team and supporting implementation of positive behaviour support plans or other prescribed interventions together with supporting and training staff teams with interventions.
The role will involve working within mental health, residential homes, clients own homes, homeless shelters and private hospitals, providing support while maintaining placement in the local area and helping to move people back from out-of-area hospitals to the local area.
The team are actively involved in moving the transforming care agenda forward, and continue to be involved in research and teaching of students.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
Please note, as part of this role you will be required to undertake the Care Certificate as part of your induction. The Care Certificate aims to ensure all staff are caring, compassionate and provide quality care in their work and it is therefore expected that you successfully complete all aspects of the Care Certificate to work in this position.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £44 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments. This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.
