Are you interested in supporting IT infrastructure in a busy NHS Trust? Can you assist with Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 development and deployment? Do you want to work with a team of staff migrating PC equipment from Windows 7 to Windows 10? Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Fixed Term technical specialist for 18 months ito the position of IT Infrastructure Engineer within the IT Department to support these growing demands of the Trust. The ultimate goal of this role is to ensure that our clinical colleagues have improved access to systems in order to provide better clinical care.
In joining a busy IT Infrastructure team, you will report to the Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer and whilst based in the Trust’s Boscombe or Dorchester office, you will be required to travel around Dorset in support of the duties undertaken.
You will be responsible for the maintenance and development of key system hardware and software and will provide an extremely important function in its maintenance and on-going support in delivering a vast range of IT services to all members of the Trust’s staff in support of high quality patient care. Supporting the upgrade of the Trust’s key desktop and server estate using SCCM will be a very key element of this role. Therefore, proven support experience of Windows 7 and 10 as well as Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 is essential and a working knowledge of VMWare 6 is a distinct advantage.
As any technology advances, you will need to have a keen interest in developing these systems to support the Trust’s IT estate.
You will be expected to support the Trust’s IT goals, deliver a business class service to 7000 users and support the maintenance of a secure yet flexible working environment.
Experience of systems administration is essential including:
Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016
Windows 7 and 10
Microsoft Active Directory
Microsoft SCCM WAN / LAN and Wireless technologies
Ability to understand and explain requirements and incidents to different audiences
Knowledge of the ICT infrastructure and critical application systems used within a complex organisation.
A working knowledge of ITIL
Awareness of air time supplier practices.
Experience of report writing and communications for a variety of audiences, demonstrating numeracy and literacy, and applying expert knowledge.
You will be someone who is a keen team player, has the ability to problem solve and has an understanding of IT Support. You will have great rapport and strong customer service skills and be experienced in working in a large organisation.
Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £26 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments. This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
