Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for the provision of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across the county. Our teams offer a range of individual, family, group and pharmacological interventions depending on the needs of the child, young person and family/carers. The Trust is also part of the Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT).

An exciting opportunity for a CAMHS Community Practitioner has arisen to join Bournemouth & Christchurch CAMHS based at Shelley Clinic in Boscombe, Bournemouth. You will hold a clinical caseload and provide support to children/young people and their families by providing assessment and therapeutic intervention in a clinic and community setting, as well as contributing to the team duty rota.

Applicants will have experience in one or more evidence based clinical interventions, such as CBT, have developed engagement skills and be focused on working with children/young people and their families to meet their goals.

Previous experience of working with children is desirable but not essential for this post. Applicants without previous experience must be able to demonstrate an ability to transfer skills from previous experience to children and families.

We have links with Reading University and CYP IAPT training opportunities are available. Our Trust is committed to developing staff through training and supervision and offers a range of other relevant training opportunities for staff as well.

We may consider development opportunities for newly qualified members of staff.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £44 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments. This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.
